In early 2007, five guys from western Arkansas scraped up enough money to go to Dirtybird Studio in Norman Oklahoma. They took with them a notebook full of songs about life in the south and a pocket full of borrowed money. In Norman they teamed up with red dirt troubadors Mike McClure(Cross Canadian Ragweed) and Travis Linville to help them through the recording process. Five days later they headed back to Arkansas, their families, and their jobs, and waited to see what Joe Hardy(ZZ Top, Steve Earle, .38 Special) would do with their raw tracks. In October of that year they proudly released the result of that session as their self-titled debut CD, and set about touring the south to spread the word. Willie Stradlin's music is a gritty cross section of southern life. The songs give you a glimpse of the bands fondness for good friends and good times, their hopes and dreams, and their darkest secrets. This disc was heavily influenced by the Texas/Oklahoma red dirt scene, and born of rowdy southern rock and roll.
